We had such a magical day yesterday. Snow was forecast and there were severe weather warnings being given out. We were going up to Northampton to watch the rugby as usual and the snow was forecast to arrive at around 6pm - about an hour after the game would finish.
So we picked up Mum and Dad and went to the game - it was SO cold! We all wrapped up like the Michelin man and put on our thermal long johns to stand on the terrace. It was one of those days where things were 'different' and there was a special atmosphere at the Gardens. It was such fun. When the first flakes of snow began whisking around in the first half a murmur went around the crowd - "It's snowing!"
Thankfully the snow didn't come in earnest until later so we were able to get safely back home and call in on my brother and sister-in-law for a cup of tea first. There was a light dusting when we got there and when we opened the door to leave it was starting to lay.
We then went out for a Chinese meal with Mum and Dad as we'd booked it earlier in the week. We walked down Stony Stratford High Street and it was starting to snow quite fast - I was so excited!
We had a lovely relaxed meal, stil in our long johns (tee hee) and then when we were all rather stuffed, got ready to walk back up the hill home. We couldn't see outside from the restaurant and when we opened the door - there it was!! Fast, swirling snow and about 3 inches settled already!! It was MAGICAL!!
We were all wrapped up and content from our meal and in a lovely mood and it was just wonderful walking through Stony Stratford in the dark with the snow coming down and shining in the lights. It felt like Narnia and Christmas all wrapped up in one. It was a magical sight and a magical feeling. Happy Days.
