The boy is back!

So we moped around for a bit and then spent Saturday at the pub and watching rugby and wondering if we had really given Alfie a chance or if we'd just panicked at the first bits of behaviour we didn't understand.  After a long conversation on the phone to Lizz, our dog behaviouralist it became clear that Alfie was just behaving like a young teenage dog.  Okay so some of his behaviour needs to be toned down but at the end of the day, he's a nice dog with a lovely temperament. He just needs to be taught how to play with humans nicely, and gently!

So Tuesday was spent on another 4-hour round trip to Cambridgeshire to bring our boy back home.  And we haven't looked back since.

Yesterday we went to the beach again and the sun even shone on us. He loved it!  We went to Greatstone again and walked for almost and hour and a half. Then we thought we'd try to find an outdoor cafe to see how he behaved there but we couldn't find one so ended up at lovely Camber Sands where we walked for another 40-odd minutes.

By the time we got home we were all completely bushed and we didn't hear a peep from our boy all afternoon ha ha.

Today we've walked along the North Downs Way in the sunshine and then tested him out in a pub garden where we were pleasantly surprised to be able to enjoy a pub lunch. Okay so Alfie made a bit of a leap at one of the plates when they first arrived but then when he was told it wasn't for him, he lay down in the sunshine and had a snooze. Perfect.

Thank you God for leading us to the right decision.  He is going to still be naughty for a while but he is gorgeous and we just have to learn how to teach him.
