Pimms O’clock

Yesterday Mum and I went to Wimbledon for the tennis. We were incredibly lucky as we had tickets for Court No.1 which traditionally on the last Friday stages doubles matches and youth and veteran matches. However as it has been such a ridiculously rainy couple of weeks the scheduling was totally thrown out which meant we were treated to a full day of top-quality tennis with two of the men’s quarter-finals.

The first was Michael Bhagdatis against Novak Djockovic which was a marathon 5-setter which took over 5 hours to finish! It was a great game, these two are apparently good friends but they were so closely matched and it was all so incredibly close with every point being fiercely contested. At the end they both just hugged each other and made exhausted gestures whilst the crowd gave them a standing ovation.

Next up was Andy Roddick against Richard Gasquet which again was a thrilling 5-setter which unfortunately Andy (who I was supporting) managed to lose despite winning the first two sets – doh! Mum and I had a great day though – we had sunshine and no rain and so drank Pimms and had a really nice day.
