It was R's sisters birthday today and so we went straight from work to go out for a meal with her and R's folks yesterday. We had a really nice time and to top it off with a cherry on top, Maisie came along too. Maisie is our other bridesmaid, our 'step-niece' from when J was married to P as Maisie is P's daughter from a previous relationship. Now that J & P are divorced we don't get to see much of Maisie but as it was Christmas she came for a sleep-over at J's and so came out with us.
It was SO lovely to see her and she is a really sweetie. I remember her as a puzzled and slightly confused 4 year old at her parents wedding and she always seemed to have a slight frown on her face as if she was trying to figure things out. It's lovely to see her grown into a beautiful and confident 12-year old and it made my day when she ran across the room to hug us both.
No longer children - teenagers ahoy!
